1D breaks 1 million mark in USA

One Direction’s debut US single “What Makes You Beautiful” has broken the 1 million sales mark in America.

Rising to No.4 in the Official Billboard Hot 100 chart, the track sold 294,320 this week, bringing the total single sales to date to 1,129,852.

‘What Makes You Beautiful’ has already been a monster worldwide smash hit reaching No.1 in the UK and Ireland, winning a BRIT award for ‘Best British Single. The music video for the song has so far garnered over 97 million views.

Last month, One Direction made history when their debut album ‘Up All Night’ entered the US Billboard 200 chart at No.1, the first British group ever to debut at No.1 in the US with their debut album release. ‘Up All Night’ has so far made No.1 in a staggering 15 countries worldwide.
