‘They want to do it sooner rather than later’: One Direction’s Zayn Malik to marry Little Mix fiancée Perrie Edwards ‘by Christmas’
They may have only got engaged a matter of weeks ago, but it doesn’t look like Perrie Edwards will have to wait too long before she ties the knot with Zayn Malik.
Sir Elton John has praised One Direction for their strong work ethic and insisted he hopes the superstar boy band are learning the “good money” he thinks they deserve.
The Rocket Man hitmaker has defended the superstar boy band from their critics and insisted their vast wealth is justified by the effort they have put into their careers thus far.
He told the Mail on Sunday newspaper’s Event magazine: “If you ignore the young or the old you are doomed. They are a great British pop band. I just hope they are getting good money because they are working bloody hard.
“I like their songs. I think they are at the age where it doesn’t matter if you don’t sleep because you are just enjoying the fame so much.
“I don’t think they’d work if one of them left but I just think, Good luck to them. ”
While he praised the Best Song Ever group, he only had sympathy for actress Lindsay Lohan, suggesting her recent troubles and the “madness” of her personal life has taken the emphasis away from her initially promising big screen career.
He added: “I hate think of Lindsay because she has a talent, she was a great actress, and then it became all about the madness, the parties and everyone forgets about what put them there in the first place – they get lost in the idea that they are famous for who they are, not what they are.”
One Direction fragrance set to net boys £360k in its first WEEK as fans desperate to douse themselves in eau de 1D
It seems the One Direction boys have another hit on their hands. But it’s their perfume that’s setting the tills ringing this time,
Escentual.com CEO Rakesh Aggarwal said: ‘Our Moment is predicted to sell around 180,000 units in the first week alone, making it one of the fastest selling fragrances of all time.
“Midnight Memories” will feature the VMA-winning track “Best Song Ever” and will be available for pre-order beginning Sept. 9.
The boyband heart-throb ran on to the field in a special 1D shirt in front of a sell-out crowd on an emotionally-charged day at Parkhead.
He left it minutes later after getting clattered by Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, prompting an chorus of outrage from his fans on Twitter and social networking sites.
But the day was all about Petrov, nicknamed Stan, a man so lonely when he first moved to Glasgow that he worked in a burger van for company.
Yesterday, as 60,000 people sang You’ll Never Walk Alone, tears poured down his face as he said: “I’ve had the darkest moment of my life in the last year. A day like this is incredible.”
The match was held in aid of the Stiliyan Petrov Cancer Foundation but What Makes You Beautiful singer Tomlinson, 21, will probably remember it for being upended by Agbonlahor.
The challenge was so fierce that the singer, a semi-pro footballer who has signed for his hometown club Doncaster Rovers, vomited at the side of the pitch.
But last night Agbonlahor, who picked him up after the tackle and dusted him down, told how the pair hadn’t fallen out about it.
He said: “I know he enjoyed playing in the game and it’s fantastic that he took time out to be here, and the same with everyone else who played.”
Former Celtic gaffer Martin O’Neill, managing the Celtic XI the boyband favourite was playing for, said: “Agbonlahor smashed into him. Louis is fine.
“He was sitting up afterwards and is perfectly all right.”
It sparked an over-the-top reaction from 1D fans on Twitter.
One, called Ella, posted: “This guy hurt Louis’s knee. I shall hurt your face. I better hear that you apologised or I will find you and I will kill you.”
Another crazed fan wrote: “I will chop you.”
But back at Parkhead, it was all about 34-year-old Petrov and his courageous health battle.
He said: “They were my heroes growing up. I was starstruck, Henrik was genuinely my all-time hero.
“I came in a bit rough but I ended up feeling better than the boy from One Direction.
“I was chuffed to bits to be involved. I always wanted to be a footballer as a boy and I would never have got to my level if I’d still been playing.
“It will rank as one of the best things I’ve ever done.”
Glasvegas lead singer James Allan, who once played for Cowdenbeath, Queen’s Park, Stirling Albion and Dumbarton, was also delighted to play – and nearly scored twice.
He said: “It’s a honour to be asked to be part of the 11 for Stiliyan Petrov, one of the best players to grace the Hoops.”
Nicky from Westlife did manage to hit the net to complete the 5-3 victory for the Stiliyan XI.
Comedian Bishop came on as a substitute for the team, who were managed by Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish and included Jamie Redknapp, John Terry and Chris Kamara.
Bishop had a penalty saved and later tweeted: “Another penalty miss, a terrible header and a shower next to @chris_kammy. Carlsberg don’t make bad days at Celtic but if they did …”
Former Celtic captain Alan Stubbs, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1999 while playing at Celtic but returned to the squad after a life-saving operation, was there to watch the game.
He said: “He is a credit not just to himself, but is an inspiration to everyone suffering from an illness, and shows there is light at the end of the tunnel on some occasions.”
Petrov himself put on a fantastic performance, staying on for his side well beyond his intended 19 minutes.
Later, he played the last few minutes for the Celtic XI, who included actors Stephen Graham and Warren Brown as well as Hoops legends Lubo Moravcik, Pierre van Hooijdonk and boss Neil Lennon.
Lennon said: “It was just a wonderful moment.
“He has had a personal battle that he has overcome. He is just a great individual, a great player.
“He’s been really tested in his life and he’s come through it with flying colours.”
One Direction’s Harry Styles backtracks on support for Miley as he blames twerking for ‘promoting promiscuity’
Harry Styles being a ladies man you would think he might enjoy watching the odd ‘twerk’ every now and then.
He said at the time: ‘She’s quite shy and I think it’s time she came out of her shell. [It was] family friendly. You could watch it with your kids and your grandma.’
The popular dance move involves a person shaking their hip and butt in an up-and-down bouncing motion.
The One Direction: This Is Us movie made almost £3.5 million at the box office in the first weekend after its release.
One Direction boys have more reason to celebrate this summer as their film This Is Us has shot straight to the number one spot in the UK and Ireland box office chart.
The British boy band’s 3D documentary topped the US box office at the weekend – and has now repeated the success this side of the Atlantic.
This Is Us, directed by Morgan Spurlock, made a whooping £3.47m including £1.2m from Thursday previews taking it to a grand total of $32m (£20.5m) worldwide so far.
X Factor boss Simon Cowell is apparently planning a sequel to the doc, focusing on the boyband as they get older.
A source close to the music guru told The Daily Star, “If This Is Us turns out to the massive smash it will inevitably be, Simon knows he’d be mad not to make a second one.
“He has conquered the music and TV markets now he wants to become a major player in the film industry.
“Although a 1D sequel hasn’t yet been signed off, cameras will continue to follow the group to record footage.
“Simon believes there’s more scope for the follow-up as Harry, Zayn, Niall, Louis and Liam grow older and so do their fans.”
Matt Damon and Jodie Foster’s sci-fi thriller, Elysium, took second place in this week’s chart, which was followed by road-trip comedy We’re The Millers, starring Friends star Jennifer Aniston, in third place.
This isn’t the sort of hot stuff we usually mean when referring to One Direction.
