Ellen DeGeneres lived out the dreams of teenage girls everywhere as she sat down for a chat with British boy band sensation One Direction to air on Thursday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” And the host got right down to business, asking which of the pop heartthrobs was currently single.

Niall Horan’s hand shot straight up in the air (despite reports that he’s dating “X Factor” judge Demi Lovato), followed by Liam Payne and Harry Styles. Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, meanwhile, kept their hands to themselves.

When DeGeneres asked the guys what they look for in a girl, Horan elaborates the most: “Someone that’s cute,” he said. “Someone I can have a laugh with, and I like people who are American.”

“I’m looking for a girl who’s in this audience,” Payne (presumably) jokes. While Styles is simply looking for “someone funny.” Someone like DeGeneres, suggests Payne. (Good luck with that, Harry!)
